COMPARATIVE, ANALYSIS AND SIMULATION OF DIFFERENT MODIFICATION OF THE PHILLIPS OPTIMIZED CASCADE REFRIGERATION PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS (LNG) BASED ON EGYPTIAN SOURCES OF NATURAL GAS

Haitham Abd El Hares Mohamed Ali;

Abstract

The main objective of the presented work is to investigate, analyze and evaluate different modifications of the most world wide liquefaction cycle the Phillips optimized cascade process for the production of LNG. Egyptian natural gas feed sources were used in all phases adopted to perform the simulation and optimization calculations.

The simulation and analysis were conducted for four different modifications of the Phillips optimized cascade process utilizing HYSYS software simulation program (version 2.2).

The influence of methane concentration in the NG feed on the power consumption was investigated utilizing two feeds of (94%) and (92%) methane for all fouJr cases. The effect of reflux in the demethanizer on the methane concentration in
the LNG product in case (3) and case (4) was also investigated. Consequently, the influence of the Demethanizer position on power consumption was investigated for case (2) and case (4).
