CYTOGENETIC STUDY OF UTERINE LEIOMYOMATA

Manal Abd EI-Raouf Farhat;

Abstract

This work has been done to find out any correlation betweeh clinical characteristics of uterine leiomyomas and the cytogenetic
rearrangements, to determine the cytogenetically defined critical
regions of chromosomes,hoping to demonstrate the presence I

a possible candidate gene at a specific locus involved in t e development of leiomyomas.
This study included randomly selected 25 uterine leiomyoma specimens obtained from 16 patients during hystrectomy dr

myomectomy operations at Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department
!

Tanta University Hospital and had not received any

therapy in the last six months.

aseptically and collected in sterile transport medium then
transported immediatly to the cytogenetic laboratory where the were processed to setup tissue cultures according to thb

cytogenetic analysis was performed according to ISCN(l995)(32).
