Preparation of Some Nano-hybride Polyacrylate derivatives and their evaluation as flow improver for waxy crude oil

Tahany Mahmoud Abd El-Hamid;

Abstract

n this work, oil soluble nano-hybrid polymers were synthesized (PMMA-MMT , PMMA-GO , PODAMA-MMT and its derivatives) via two steps methods. The first step was ion exchange followed by successfully dispersing the modified nanolayers of MMT clay or nanosheets of GO on the organic PMMA or PODAMA matrix via in situ free radical polymerization. The chemical structures of resultant nanohybrid polymers was discussed by different techniques : FT-IR, Raman spectroscopy, XRD, DLS, HR-TEM, FESEM, contact angle, and GPC. The thermal stability was also studied by both TGA and DSC. The experimental results point out that the nanohybrid polymers improved pour point and rheological behaviors of waxy crude oil and improved the long-term stability was superior to conventional pure polymers. This oil soluble nanohybrids will have great benefit for the field application because there are many heating stations were set along the pipelines, which are used to prevent the oil cooling to lower temperatures.
