John Updike's Rabbit Tetralogy As a Slice of the Contemporary American Scene

Nadia Farouk Hashish;

Abstract

This thesis aims at studying a slice of the American society; the
middle class through Updike's Rabbit tetralogy. It also aims at proving that Updike has been really the voice of America in the past few years and has succeeded in presenting a genuine portrayal of the middle American society with its comforts and anxieties, privileges and problems and ambitions and fears.
