DESFLURANE ANESTHESIA

Sherif Mahmoud Mohamed;

Abstract

The aim of this assay is to evaluate and asses one ofthe newest volatile anesthetic agent, desflurane, which has lower tissue/blood partition coefficient than other volatile anesthetics. J, differs from isoflurane by substitution of a fluorine for a chlorine atom, resulting in changes of many properties.

The Tee 6 vaporizer created to provide more precise control of output and overdose safety by heating the liquid anesthetic to a uniform temperature.

The pharmacological characteristics of desflurane resemble those seen with isoflurane, but desflurane offer advantages over other modern inhaled anesthetics as it provides a greater precision of control over anesthetic administration, and permits a significantly more rapid recovery from anesthesia makes it suitable for ambulatory anesthesia.

Measures of hepatic and renal safety are estimated due to its molecular stability and lack of biotransformation inspite of carbon monoxide poisoning has been reported with high temperature and dry carbon dioxide absorbents.

Although of postoperative nausea, vomiting, delirium, shivering and malignant hyperthermia triggering effect, desflurane is a safe inhalational agent with cost effective in low flow systems.
