STATIC AND DYNAMIC RESPONSE OF LONG SPAN BRIDGES

HANY WADIE GOURGUI;

Abstract

This thesis deals with the static and dynamic performance of long-span bridges. The thesis introduces an extensive survey on different published works concerning general concepts, systems and structural analysis methodologies of different long-span bridge types. A proposed analytical procedure for calculating the fundamental dynamic properties of contemporary, long-span cable-stayed bridge schemes, is developed by incorporating the effect of different structural countermeasures, for extending the span limits of cable stayed bridges, such as: adopting partially earth anchored schemes, aud forming cable net systems composed of secondary sag cables in addition to the main stay-cables
