Effect of Educational Nursing Intervention on Knowledge and Practices of Patients with Implantable Port Catheter and Undergoing Chemotherapy

Rasha Mohamed Elmetwaly Ali;

Abstract

Central venous access devices (VADs) are routinely used in oncology practice to provide long-term venous access. An implantable port device provides an easily accessible central route for long-term chemotherapy. The use of implanted port catheter represents a major advance for oncology patients, enabling the effective delivery of chemotherapy and blood products particularly for prolonged infusions or in the situation of difficult venous access ( Patel et al, 2014).
