DEVELOPING JOB DESCRIPTION FOR STAFF NURSES WORKING IN NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE UNITS

Abstract
Job description is the first step to improve quality of care as it involves organizational relationships, responsibilities, specific duties, and working condition for staff nurses working in neonatal intensive care units. These are critical places rendering massive care for critical infant. Therefore, they need the most highly qualified staff.
Job description is a must in order to keep up-to-date with current health care changes and development, to avoid ambiguity, and to achieve the ultimate goal of continuos improving quality of care. Accordingly, the job description of the neonatal intensive care unit nurse is imperative for the nurses themselves, and for the service.
Therefore, the aim of this study was to analyze the job of the neonatal intensive care unit nurse, and develop a job description based on the data obtained.
This study was conducted in the neonatal intensive care units at Port-Said, lsmailia, and Cairo governorates. Subjects of the study consisted of two groups.
