Abstract


Violent behavior is a subject of paramount importance to the fields of psychiatric nursing. Inpatients' aggression has been identified as a clinical problem. Violent behavior was defined as an act of verbal and/or physical force that tended to inflict harm or cause bodily injury. Aggression affects every one with immediate contact with the act, e.g. patient him/her self, other patients, staff, visitors. The injury may be emotionally or/and physically. Physical and psychiatric patients' profile might be related to their aggression. Also socioeconomic status and the social support system which psychiatric patients receive might be related to patients' aggression.

Aim of the study

The present study aimed at ide':1tify physical and psychosocial profile of psychotic patients who commit aggressive behavior.

Setting:

The study was conducted at Assiut University Hospital and

Mental Health Hospital in Assiut city.


Subject:

The subject of this study consisted of 100 psychotic patients, who were observed during committinaggressive behavior.
