Abstract


Using of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) in non-union bone fracture has become accepted as a biological treatment that providing the benefits of bone grafting without the complications and gives better results.
Recently alternative methods of treatment of nonunion have been developed by physical or biological methods, PRP is an example of one such autologous product that has been utilized and studied since the 1970s. PRP has been used clinically in humans for its healing properties.
This systematic review aims to evaluate the efficacy of using isolated PRP injection in nonunion bone fractures.
Six articles were selected according to th inclusion and exclusion criteria addressed the use of injected isolate PRP in nonunion bone fractures with no study design restrictions and no date limitation. by searching in Pub Med, Cochrane library, Google scholar, Medline, To update, DARE, Ovid, ACP journal club, Embase and other medical databases to identify relevant studies, by using these key words (platelet rich plasma, bone healing, un union bone defect, fracture bone, platelet rich fibrin, , bone healing disorders, nonunion, delayed union, PRP gel and treatment of ununion bone healing).
the clinical results of isolated PRP injection in nonunion bone fractures were documented, There are varieties in the 6 studies in conclusions and results which failed to show the effectiveness of clinical use of PRP in nonunion bone fractures, Therefore there is no evidence support the efficacy of using PRP injection in nonunion bone fractures , so further studies are needed to investigate the effectiveness of PRP in such nonunion bone fractures.
