Abstract


Childhood is an important period for the development of atherosclerosis. The presence of risk factors at this time, such as obesity may exert dyslipidaemic changes that will lead to early asymptomatic atheromatous lesions.


This study, included I38, simple obese children, assembled from endocrinology clinic, faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University and 80 healthy, non obese children serving as control.
The aim of this study was to determine dyslipidaeamia and its relation to atherosclerosis index as an early marker for atherosclerosis in obese children.
