REUSE OF CERAMIC KILN ROLLERS WASTE IN THE MANUFACTURE OF MEMBRANES FOR NANOFILTRATION
Mai Hassan El-Sayed Sharaf El-DeenRoushdy;
Abstract
(Key Words: ceramic wastes, ceramic membranes, water filtration, kiln rollers)
The waste was used as raw material for the production of ceramic membranes. The waste was analyzed by XRF, XRD, DTA and TGA, TEM, and particle size distribution. The ceramic membrane samples were formed as disks using PVA with different concentrations, and pressed at 25 MPa, dried then fired at temperatures ranging from 1100 to 1300°C for 1, 2, and 3 hours soaking time. The verification parameters, salt separation and turbidity removal were investigated. It was found the best firing temperature is 1250˚C, as it gave the highest values for the salt separation percentage and turbidity removal
