RECYCLING OF MILL SCALE WASTE IN STEEL MAKING PROCESS

Abstract
scale is a layer of iron oxides fanned on the surface of steel due to exposure of hot metal to air. Its specific generation is about 19-40 kg/ ton of hot rolled product depending on the process used. The global production of steel during 2008 was 1125 million tons and the corresponded mill scale generated was estimated to be 33 Million tons. On the other hand, mill scale is considered as rich source of iron (up to > 70% Fe) with minimal impurities. The possibility of recycling mill scale in iron and steel making processes is the aim of the present study: This thesis has been divided into four chapters as mentioned below:
