Abstract

SUMMARY
K
eratoconus is a form of an ectatic disorder that could be treated with more than method. One of these methods is CXL, were we use riboflavin instillation and UVA light in order to decrease the progression of the disease. A group of Greek researchers reported an increase in Goldmann IOP readings after this procedure. Many studies were conducted since then to know the reason for this rise, one of the most acceptable theories that explain that rise was due to the increase in corneal rigidity.
We performed a study using two different devices one which uses applanation and another which uses indentation to give us a better understanding of the real cause. Results shown that there was an increase in IOP as measured by both devices but the device that used indentation showed both greater difference between pre and post-operative readings and also higher readings in the post-operative IOP readings. This supports more the theory of an increase in IOP due to corneal rigidity but more research to exclude o
