Prognostic Significance of Endoglin Serum Level in Breast Cancer Patients

Abstract


The high incidence of breast cancer in women and the severity of the disease have stimulated a need for further studies and improvements of investigations and theraby .
The aim of this work is to measure the serum level of endoglin in breast cancer patients to evaluate the prognostic utility of its measurement in these patients.
This study was performed in clinical pathology Department, faculty of medicine, Tanta University. It was carried on 38 female patients with cancer breast from different grades and 10 femal patients with benign breat mass selected from Tanta University Hospital, in addition to10 normal individuals used as a reference group.
The subjects of this study were devided into the following groups:
1. Group (1): Consisted of 10 normal healthy individuals (all female). Their ages ranged from 30- 60 years.
2. Group (II): Consisted of 10 female patients with breast mass diagnosed as benign lesion. Their ages ranged from 30-40 years.
3. Group (III): Consisted of 8 female patients with grade I cancer breast.

Their ages ranged from 36- 55 years.

4. Group (IV): Consisted of 8 female patients with grade II cancer breast. their ages ranged from 34-60 years.
5. Group (V): Consisted of 10 female patients with grade III cancer breast.

Their ages ranged from 30- 60 years.

6. Group VI: Consisted of 12 female patients with grade IV cancer breast.
