Abstract
Operating rooms are the most difficult of all hospital areas to manage. Operating room management focuses on maximizing operational efficiency at the facility. i.e. to maximize the number of surgical cases that can be done on a given day while minimizing the required resources and related costs.
Management of a surgical suite must take into account all cooperating team members including surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, technicians and patients.
First of all, physical layout and location of the surgical room in relation to other integral departments has a major role in safety and time management.
Operating suite leadership is a corner stone in its management; it is responsible for solving conflicts between operating suite team. But it can't takeover with tasks without cooperation of other team members.
Many safety features have to be applied in operating suite to achieve optimized clinical outcomes and maximize imbursement.
