Parental Abuse and Negligence to their Children: An Assessment Study

Abstract

hild abuse and neglect coupled with its adverse effects on the individual have been revealed to be a major problem. They are also known as child maltreatment. Being exposed to such maltreatment in childhood will result in psychological health problems in adolescence and adulthood. Healthy development of a child can be achieved through a healthy relationship with the parents. This relationship does not only affect the current behavior of the child, but it also plays a critical role in the determination of future behavior (Cronholm and Witherspoon, 2017). Subject and Methods This study was aimed to assess children abused and neglected by their parents. Research Questions 1. What are the patterns of child abuse? 2. Is there a relationship between the characteristics of children who exposed to abuse and negligence by their parents and the pattern of abuse?
