Effect of Tin and Aluminum Deposition on porcelain / cement shear bond strength

Jylan Fouad EL- Guindy;

Abstract

This study was carried out to investigate the effect of Tin and Aluminum deposition on the porcelain I cement shear bond strength and the color changes that might have taken place .
Two different types of ceramics were used:
a) Ducera ( L.F.C. )
b ) In - Ceram core material .
Two different types of luting cements were used :
a) Adhesive resin cement . b) Glass ionomer cement.
Samples construction:-
The ceramic samples were fabricated according to the manufacturer's instruction, with a 6 mm diameter and 3mm thickness using a specially designed copper mold.
The ceramic samples from each type of the tested ceramics were divided into 3 groups according to the type of surface treatment employed .
Group (1) :-The ceramic samples were sandblasted with 50 urn aluminum oxide ( representing the control group ) .
Group (2) :- The ceramic samples were Tin coated with 0.3 urn Tin using a coating unit .
Group (3) :-The ceramic samples were Aluminum coated with 0.3um
Aluminum using a coating unit .
