MOLECULAR BIOLOGYIN PEDIATRIC GASTROINTESTINAL AND LIVER DISEASES
HUSSEIN RAGAA EL ASHMAWI;
Abstract
ln the first chapter, "Molecular Diagnosis", The methods
of molecular diagnosis applicable in the field of medicine showing their advantages and disadvantages were listed then as an examp)e, their application with some of the diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and liver in children were relatect.
In the second chapter, "Gene Therapy", the methods of gene therjlPy, of which some are already applicable, and some are still under further trials, with their advantages and disadvantages were listed, then some applications of these methods used in the treatment of some oft.I1e diseases of the gastrointe;>tinal tract and liver in children were listed.
In the third and last chapter, "Future of Molecular Medicine", an imaginative idea of what will the management of disease be like with the full application of molecular diagnosis and gene J;herapy in the near and far future were shown, also, the importance of using computers in further investigations revolutionize the methods of diagnosis and treatment were shown.
• From all of the above it was concluded that, Molecular
diagnosis and gene therapy will play a major role in the management of disease in all branches of medicine in the future. Although molecular diagnosis is already applicable in a wide range of medical branches, gene therapy is still lagging behind in the stage of trials and experiments; future perspectives of advances in gene therapy are very promising.
