BIOCHEMICAL AND IMMUNE STUDIES ON GAMMA VACCINE IN SHEEP

BASEM SAYED ABBAS AHMED;

Abstract

Pneumonic mannheimiosis caused by Mannheimia haemolytica
(M. haemolytica) is one of the major problems in sheep, goat and cattle.
It is responsible for considerable economic losses to these animals and
other livestock industries in many parts of the world. In Egypt, M.
haemolytica is found in the upper respiratory tract of healthy animals as
well as in diseased animals. They also recorded that frequent
association of M. haemolytica with Bovine Respiratory Disease
Complex (BVD), causing severe pneumonic damage in Egyptian cattle,
sheep and goat.
This obvious problem of the disease in Egypt clarified that in
order to combat and control the disease, a vaccine which has potential
to provide protection against M. haemolytica from local strain is
needed.
