Mthe accumulation of small mature appJaring lymphocytes in the blood, marrow and lymphoid tissues.

Chronic lymphocytic leukemia accounts for approximately 0.8 percent of all cancers and nearly 30 percent of allleJemias.

Generally, the neoplastic lymphocyteare of B-cell lineage. In less than 2 percent of cases, however, the neoplastic cells are ofT-cell origin.

lymphocytes with regular nuclear and cyto lasmic outline and a clumped chromatin pattern. Membrane characteristics' of these cells include weak or negative surface immunoglobulin staining, CD5 positivity and FMC 7 negativity.

CLL is trisomy 12.
