MOSTAFA GALAL ABD EL-FATTAH HASSAN;
Abstract
The present study was carried out at the Poultry Farm of the Animal
and Poultry Production Department, Faculty of Agriculture. Assiut University by using different genotypes of comb (Single, duplex and triplex) and genotypes of plumage color (normal and gray color) in Dandrawi chickens. The main purpose of the present study was to the evaluate certain qualitative alleles effects (comb types and plumage color) on certain quantitative traits (growth measurements, fertility, embryonic mortality and hatchability). A total of 28 sires and 301 dams from two; lines normal and gray Dandarawi chickens were used in a mating system to produce twelve genetic groups.
The obtained results presented the following conclusion:
I- 1- Effect of comb types and plumage color on fertility, embryonic mortality and hatchability:
1- Triplex comb type chickens had higher fertility percentage than single and duplex comb but these differences were not significant.
2- Gray-normal color (GN) had higher fertility percentage than other genotypes groups and the differences between genotypes were highly significant (p 3- There were certain insignificant interactions of combs x colors m fertility.
4- In general, obtained fertility of local breeds showed high reproductive activity.
