Tracheostomy Care Self Learning Package, its effect on Nurses' Knowledge and Performance

Abstract
The tracheostomized patients at the ENT departments resembles a critical cases of patients whom required a specialized nurse with a certain qualifications and characteristics.
The self learning package as a method of teaching allow the nurses to study and got their training at their own place and at any time to update their knowledge and performance regarding the care of those patients.
Aim of the Study :
The present study was conducted to :
I. Assess of nurses knowledge and performance.
II. Develop and implement a self learning package for nurses caring for patients with tracheostomy based on the nurses knowledge and skills needed.
III. Evaluate the outcome of the tracheostomy care self learning package in relation to nurses knowledge and performance attained from studying the package.
Subjects :
All the available diploma nurses (30 nurses) working
with tracheostomized patients.
Setting :
ENT departments and ICU at El-Demerdash Hospital and Ain Shams Specialized Hospital and both are affiliated to
• Ain Shams University.
