Genetical Studies on some Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum, mill.) Cultivars and their Hybrid Combination
Mabrouk Ahmed Hussein Abd-Elmaksoud;
Abstract
This study was carried out in three seasons, during the period from 2008 till 2010, at the Experimental Stations Farms of the Faculty of Agriculture (at Saba Basha and Abies) Alexandria University, Alexandria, Egypt. The main objectives of this study were to investigate and realize the following points:
I. Evaluation of the general performances of five parental cultivars of tomato and their all possible F 1 hybrid combinations, in one direction, as well as three check cultivars for some important gro'wth, yield and quality characters.
2. Estimation of heterosis percentages, relative to mid-parents, and the potence ratios of the F1 hybrids to determinate the types of gene action involved on the inheritance of some important characters.
