NEUTRON DETECTION AND MEASUREMENTS
Djenane Amer Khalil;
Abstract
The aim of this work is to study the possibility of detecting fast neutrons, through the analysis of prompt gamma rays, their applications in fast neutron detection, and the detection of explosives. We used different elements as targets to neutrons and in particular NaN3 which is taken as representative of explosive agents, and Teflon CF2 which has the advantage of being in abundance, cheap and easily shaped. Both Fluorine and Nitrogen being used in the
explosive manifactury.
This thesis contains five chapters and conclusion, Chapter one gives an introduction about slow and fast neutron detection.
Chapter two discusses the latest applications on fast neutron detection, the explosives detection, it discusses the different compositions of some chemical weapons agents and different method of detecting them. It also discusses applications of neutron detection in other scientific researchs.
Chapter three introduces the experimental tools used in this work. A comparison between scintillation detectors
