Asmaa Ismail Mahmoud AL Nahrawy;

Abstract

Neonatal sepsis (NS) is a life-threatening disorder and an important cause of morbidity (1 to 10 per 1000 live births) and mortality (15% to 50%) in neonates, especially in preterm (Kaistha et al., 2010; Blencowe et al., 2013).
This case controlled study aimed to evaluate serum level of IL27 in pretem newborn with NS and the relationship between serum IL27 and different laboratory markers for sepsis. It included 48 preterms neonates at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Ain Shams University Children's Hospital.
We found that. Both groups have comparable postnatal ages and sex distribution, preterms with sepsis had significantly lower gestational age as compared to those without sepsis, similarly APGAR score at 0 and 5 minutes were highly significantly lower among preterm sepsis group as compared to the non-sepsis one.
The mode of delivery was almost the same in both groups showing no significant difference. Regard
