Abstract
Sulphonylurea de1ivatives are used in a large number of patients suffering from both diabetes and ischemic heart disease, This study investigates the cardiovascular effects of
• glibenclamide and glimepiride in experimental animals. It proved that a daily administration of glibenclaniide and glimepiride in average and maximum therapeutic doses for 3 weeks in streptozotocin induced diabetic rats resulted in a significant reduction of blood glucose level. However there were -•no significant 'ECG or arterial -pressure •changes. 'The change in arrhythrnogenic dose of adrenaline in anaesthetized cats was significantly decreased by glibenclarnide whereas glimepiride did not. In isolated rabbit aortic. ring glibenclamide
