MANAGEMENT OF GRAPEVINE ROOT DISEASES CAUSED BY SOIL BORNE FUNGI
KHAMES AHMED RIAD HEMIDA;
Abstract
Grapevine is one of the most important fruit crops grown in tropical, subtropical and cold areas all over the world. It is used in fresh food, industrial and medical purposes. Grapevine is the second fruit crop after citrus in Egypt. In Egypt and all over the world grapevine is subject to attack by wilt and root-rot diseases caused by soil borne fungi i.e. Fusarium spp., Macrophomina phaseolina, R. solani, Pythium ultimum and Botryiodiplodia theobromae as well as Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. herbimontis causing decline in vegetative growth and fruit quality and quantity.
The aim of this study is to common diseases of grapevine roots caused by soil borne fungi, using some biotic and abiotic agent such as endophytic microorganisms, organic and antioxidants acids and essential oils. The results obtained can be summarized as follows:
1. Survey of decline on grapevine trees in some Governorates in Egypt was carried out. The results indicated that high percentage of diseased grapevine tree was found in El-Fayoum than in El-Beheira Governorates of grapevine cultivars i.e. superior followed by flame seedless. The high number of clusters of grapevine tree during 2014 and 2015 were recorded of grapevine in El-Beheira than El-Fayoum
