Predictors of Early Outcome of Ischemic Stroke Patients

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to identify the predictors of early outcome after one week from onset of ischemic stroke. This was a cohort prospective study conducted on 85 patients (63 males and 22 females) with first ever acute ischemic stroke. Patients were recruited from the stroke unite of Ain Shams Specialized Hospital. The study population were divided into 2 groups according to the mRS score done at 7 days from onset of symptoms; group I (patients with favorable early outcome) that included patients with mRS score at 7 days from onset of symptoms ranging from 0 to 2 (patients can perform his daily activities independently) and included 54 patients (63.5% of the study population), and group II (patients with unfavorable early outcome) that included patients with mRS score at 7 days from onset of symptoms ranging from 3 to 6 (dependent patients or death) and included 31 patients (36.5% of the study population).
