Omar Mohamed Omar;
Abstract
Control of scarnng IS certainly one of the most difficult challenges of surgical practice. Currently, there are several surgical accepted approaches for the treatment of facial scars; each approach present various advantages and drawbacks in terms of effectiveness, time, cost satisfaction and discomfort (Raphael et aL, 1994).
This study was carried upon 56 patients, (35 males and 21 females), admitted to plastic surgery Department, Assiut University Hospital in the period from April 2000 to April 2002. According to the surgical procedure the patients were classified into two groups, the first group (suture group) included 28 patients (19 males and 9 females) underwent facial and neck revision using the traditional methods (simple sutures and subcuticular sutures) and the second group (glue group) included 28 patients underwent facial and neck scar revision using the tissue adhesive 2-0ctylcyanoacrylate (Dermabond).
Follow up:
Follow up was done in our out patient clinic. Our patients were assessed clinically by the Hollander Wound Evaluation Scale (HWES) in every visit weekly during the first month then monthly for a period of 6-24 months with average period of one year.
