A STUDY TO ASSESS THE QUALITY OF NURSING CARE PROVIDED FOR MOTHERS AT MCH CENTERS IN ALEXANDRIA

Abstract
This study was conducted to assess the quality of nursing care provided for mothers at MCH centers in Alexandria during antenatal,
-t- natal, and postnatal periods.
The study population and sampling were as follows:
1. A stratified random sample was used to select 240 pregnant women

from six MCH centers, each representing one of six districts of
Alexandria, 40 women were randomly selected from each center.
2. A sample .of 30 women delivered at El-Mandara, Bakus, and
Moharem Beck MCH centers were included, selecting 10 consecutive deliveries at each center.
"r• 3. A sample of20 postnatal mothers delivered by nurses ofEl-Mandara,
Bakus, Moharem Beck and El-Gomrok MCH centers were visited at home 5 consecutive visits.
4. A sample of 240 pregnant women m their las,t trimester who were currently visiting the study centers were included to investigate their satisfaction with the services rendered to them. Forty women from each of the six centers were randomly selected and interviewed after they had completed their visit.
Five tools wer•e specifically developed and used for data collection. These are:
1. An observation checklist for assessment of infrastructure.
