Abstract

The physiological, histological and histochemical effect of taurine as antioxidant amino acid in addition to selenium as a trace element and acting as active site of formation of antioxidant enzyme glutathione peroxidase, azathioprene as immunosuppressive• and compiling three agents together for ninty days on glucose status, kidney function and oxidant-antioxidant balance on diabetic rats was investigated. The male rats were divided into five groups as follows: normal control group, diabetic control group, taurine-selenium supplemented diabetic group (antioxidant group), azathioprine supplemented diabetic group (Immunosuppressive group) and taurine selenium in addition to azathioprine supplemented diabetic group (antioxidants and immunosuppressive group)
