Synthesis of novel nanoparticles for photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants

Mohamed Fathi Ali Sanad;

Abstract

ZnO and ZnS were considered very active nanoparticles for removal of various organic pollutants due to its narrow band gap energy. However, the low surface area is the main problem that limits its industrialization. Herein, we report a successful route for incorporation of ZnO and ZnS on the surface and inside the matrix of SiO2 prepared by the sol-gel method using CTAB as structure and capping agent. [XRD], complete isotherm, [DRS], [PL], [FESEM] and [HRTEM] were selected to investigate the crystalline, structural and textural features of the prepared Nano-composites. Homogeneous dispersion of ZnO and ZnS NPs on the surface and into the wall of pores of SiO2 which accompanied by creation of different types of pores ranging from micropores to mesoporous and cute decrease in surface area and this can illustrates the great increase in the rate of dye removal. Photo catalytic reactivity of ZnO and ZnS over SiO2 surface
