ADLY ALY HEIDER SABBOUR;

Abstract

Detrusor instability (idiopathic motor urge incontinence) is a common condition characterized by multiple symptoms, such as involuntary loss of urine associated with strong desire to void and the amount lost is related to the intensity of urgency and the amount of urine in the bladder. Some of which are embarrassing and may cause an increasingly life restricted life sty!e.

A lack of understanding of the pathophysiology of this condition is reflected in the numerous methods of currently available treatments. As the pathophsiology of detrusor instability becomes better understood, it is still hoped there will be sie,rnificant advances in the management

This study had been done on fifty volunteers post-menopausal women, each of them proved to suffer from idiopathic detrusor instability, selected from the Gynaecological Outpatient Clinic of Matemity Hospital-Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University. Their ages ranged !Tom 48 to 61 years (Mean= 53.72 ±4.052). This study had been done to determine the effectiveness of transvaginal electrical stimulation versus vaginal cones in reducing bladder over activity in idiopathic detrusor instability.
