BIOCHEMICAL ASSESSMENT OF RESPONSE OF BONE METASTASES TO TREATMENT IN EGYPTIAN PATIENTS

Abstract


The study was performed on 75 cases, categorized into three patient groups and one control group.
1- (G I) included 20 non metastatic breast cancer with age range

(35-58 y) without treatment.

2- (G II) included 25 bone metastatic breast cancer with age range (35-68 y) treated with radiotherapy.
3- (G III) included 15 bone metastatic breast cancer under chemotherapy with age range (28-65 y) treated with radiotherapy.
4- Control group (N.C) included 15 healthy control with age range (35-58 y).
The cases were selected according to the prior history of cancer the pathology confirmation of invasive breast cancer, the bone scanning evidence of positive or negative bone metastases, and the previous specific cancer therapy. • The following investigations were carried out on the above mentioned groups :
1- Determination of the serum total alkaline phosphatase (ALP)

enzymatic activity kinetically by the recommended

Scandinavian method at 37°C.
