Nabil Mohamed Bakeer;
Abstract
The design of the experiment by usmg 24 Friesian dairy cattle, examination of the udder for clinical and subclinical mastitis and udder abnormalities. The animals were divided into 3 groups each of 8 animals.
The first group was intramammarily inoculated with levamisole 3% [(3 g tetramisole hydrochloride) 40 em levamisole 7.5% to 100 ml solution)] 5,
10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 ml per quarter after complete morning milking for 6 consecutive days. The second group was intramammarily inoculated with vit. E- selenium, 3 g vit. E and 33.4 mg selenium (20 em of Viteselen 15) for 3 successive days. The third group was kept as a non treated control.
Samples from all animals were taken 7, 14, 28, 56, 112 and 180 days after inoculation to determine the different parameters studied.
The mean of somatic cell count (x 4926/ml) in milk of Friesian dairy cattle was in levamisole treated group was 8.67 before treatment which was increased to 13.86, 13.10, 16.64, 18.09, 18.25 and 18.31 after 7, 14, 28, 56,
112 and 180 days of treatment respectively. In vit. E- selenium treated group the mean was 7.61 before treatment which increased to 8.62, 9.61, 10.89,
11.54, 12.03 and 12.65, 7, 14, 28, 56, 112 and 180 days post treatment respectively. While in the control non treated group, it was 6.24, 5.55, 5.64,
5.40, 5.81, 6.15 and 6.83 during the fore determined intervals of the whole experiment.
