Abstract


Gallbladder stone formation is one of the most causes of morbidity in industrialized countries; the reported frequency of the disease varies in different countries.
Formation of cholesterol crystals is the key event in gallbladder stone formation. However, not all individuals with supersatilrated bile develop gallstones, other identified risk factors are age, sex, obesity, body fat distribution, parity, hormonal contraceptives, family history, slimming diet and certain gastrointestinal diseases.
This study was carried out to find the relation between body fat distribution and gallbladder stone formation in a group of Egyptian women and to try to detect risk factors appear to play a role in gallstone formation.
