PREPARATION AND PHYSICOCHEMICAL STUDIES OF SOME AMINE SURFACTANTS

NABEL ABDEL-MONEEM AMIN NEGM;

Abstract

Quaternary cationic ammo surfactants are one of the most famous and useful surfactants in duty. Polymerizable amino surfactants are the most important type of that category due to
their importance in the mineralogy and heavy metal extraction.

. ' •.

In this thesis, the quaternary ammonium salts were prepared by quaternization of the different fatty esters resulting from the esterification of unsaturated fatty acids (oleic acid and linoleic • acid) by ethylene glycol and triethanol amine, using triethyl amine, triethanolamine and pyridine.

Surface and thermodynamic parameters of these surfactants • as well as electrical conductivity were evaluated and calculated at different concentrations and temperatures. Degrees of dissociation, dissociation constants and activation energy_ of solvation were calculated for each surfactant at 40° C.
