Abstract

Two field experiments were carried out at the Sakha Research Station (Kafr El-Sheikh, Egypt) at 1999 and 2000 in order to study the effect of some insecticides on growth, yield, chemical composition and the residue in sugar beet plants, as well as estimation them in sugar beet roots at harvest.

The experimental area was ploughed twice, leveled and divided into ridged and plots. Each plot area was 17.5m2 represents 5 ridges, 7m in length and 0.5 m in width. The normal procedures of agronomic practices were done as usual in sugar beet field. The recommended dose of nitrogen,
phosphorus and potassium fertilizers (70 kg N, 15 kg P205 and 48 kg K20/fed.) was added as used in sugar beet field. Nitrogen fertilizer was added in form of urea (46% N) in two equal doses, the 1st dose after thinning (45 days after sowing), the 2"d one was applied 3 weeks latter. Concerning potassium fertilizer (48 kg K20/fed.) it was added as potassium sulfate (48% K20/fed.) with the 1st dose of nitrogen. However, phosphorus was applied in form of super phosphate (15% P205) at land preparation.
