Whereas each member of health care organization must be accountable for the quality and cost containment, as it is the emphasis for the past decade, moreover quality care has become the focus of the next (National Quality forum, 2008).
The study aimed to: assess nursing opinion of the requirements adopt total quality management in Pediatric Unites at Zifta Hospitals.
Subject and methods for this study were portrayed under four Topics:
I-Technical design
II-Operational design
III-Administrative design
IV-Statistical design

Research Setting:
This study was conducted at Pediatric Care Units (Medical, Surgical, and Critical Care Units) at Zifta hospital afflited to Ministry of health.
Sample Size and Characteristics:
A Purposive sample that composed of (100) pediatric nurses at the previously mentioned setting Medicine (20%), Surgery,(25%) &Critical Care Unites(50%) .
I-Technical Design:
Data were collected through the following:
Tools of data collection:
Pre Design sheet:
It was designed by the researcher after reviewing related literature and it was written in simple Arabic language which covered the interviewing questionnaire classified into ::
 Part I: It concerned with: Characteristic of the studied sample (e.g. age, gender, material status, level of education, job, years of experiences and training course).
 Part II: It related to assess the requirements and the constraints of the application of TQM include (Concept of TQM, Reason, Leadership,Training) .

Scoring System:
A correct answer scored of 2 for the complete correct answers and 1&zero for incorrect answers and don’t known respectively for each area of knowledge. The scores of the items were summed -up and the total was divided by number of the items, giving a mean score for the item. Then the total score of knowledge was classified into either good (65% and more), average (50%: <65%) and poor (<50%).
Reliability: It will be ascertained by a group of experts in pediatric nursing. Their opinions was be elicited regarding the format, layout, consistency, accuracy and relevancy of the tools.
Operational design:
The Operational Design of the study entails three following phases:
A) Preparatory phase.
B) Pilot of the study
C) Field work.
Preparatory phase:
Reviewing of the past and current local and international related literature using articles, journals, scientific periodicals magazines and books were done to develop the study tools and to get acquainted with the various aspects of the research problem.
Pilot study:
A pilot study was carried out included 10%(10 pediatric nurses) of the expected total study subjects it was conducted to test the clarity and applicability of the study tools and also to estimate the time needed by the investigator to complete each one for each study subject. Results of data obtained from the pilot study helped to modify the tools where some items were corrected omitted or added as needed. All pediatric nurses involved in the pilot study were excluded from the study.
Field work:
The actual field work was carried out over 6 months period from the first week of march, 2015 up to the end of Augest2015. The researcher was available 3 days /week.

The investigator started by introducing herself to each pediatric nurse, giving clear and brief idea about the aim of the study and its expectation. Tools were filled by the investigator where each pediatric nurse was interviewed individually for 20 to 30 minutes depending upon her condition and pediatric nurse from 15 to 20 minutes depending upon their physical and mental readiness and the mitigating circumstance of pediatric healthcare environment.
Administrative design:
An official permission was obtained from director of each study setting through a formal letter that was issued from the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Ain Shams University to the director of Zifta Hospital.
Ethical Considerations:
Each study subject was secured that all the gathered data was used for research purpose only. The study sample were informed about the purpose and expected outcomes of the study and they were assured that the study is harmless, their participation was voluntary and they had the right to withdraw from the study at any time without given any reason. They were assured also that anonymity and confidentiality of the obtained data was guaranteed.
Statistical Design:
The data collected were revised, coded analyzed, tabulated and statistical by using number and percentage distribution. Chi-square test, mean and standard deviation were used to estimate the statistical significant difference between variables of study.
