Abstract

Nursing process ha •s become more prominent with an increase emphasis on the nuyrsing assessment, use of the nursing diagnosis, setting an outcome criteria, expansion of specific nursmg inteventions and guidelines for evaluating the effectiveness of the plan on the patients' care.

It was observed that the medical surgical nursing students at the High Institute of Nursing, in Shams University cannot identify patients' needs or problems during assessment phase of the nursing process, to write a nursing diagnosis, to setting priorities and write an individualized nursing care plan for patients with medical and surgical disorders.
