NEEDS ASSESSMENT OF ANESTHESIA NURSE AS A NEW Nursing CAREER

Abstract
Anesthetic nursing forms a compulsory part of the operating department nursing function m many countries (Margaret, 1995).
In Egypt so far this specialty is not established and more efforts should be done to prove the importance of this career and define the required teaching and training programs.
Aim of the study:
To assess:
1. To assess the needs for specialized anesthesia nurse as a new nursmg career.
2. To assess the knowledge and performance of the already allocated anesthesia nurses and other nurses who are occasionally involved· in the anesthetic affairs in some hospitals.
Methodology:
The subject of the present study consisted of 70 nurses from both sex and 45 physicians (anesthesiol ogists and surgeons).
The study was carryout in the University Hospitals (Ain Shams and El Azhar), Military Hospitals (El Gala, Kobri El Koba and El Maadi), curative health
