Pathological Studies On The Effect Of Ivomec On The Urogenital System Of Rabbits

Abstract

In the present work, the effect of treatment with ivomec on the urogeneitol system of male rabbits was studied. During these pathological studies 12 mature male New Zealand rabbits, weighing 2.5-3.5 kg., were used. Six of these rabbits were obtained from a private breeding colony known to be not previously received any ivomec injections and also not previously infected with mange. The other 6 rabbits were collected individually from markets as naturally infected cases with mange (diagnosed to be caused by sarcoptic mites). The used rabbits were grouled and treated as the follows : l.GroupI (consisted of3 rabbits): Non- infected and treated with lVomec. 2. Group II (consisted of 3 rabbits) Infected and treated with

IVomec.

3. Group III (consisted of 3 rabbits) : Infected but not treated with lVomec 4.Group III (consisted of 3 rabbits) : Non- infected and not­

treated and used as a control for other groups.

The period of the experiment was extended to 4 weeks after which the animals of the various groups were sacrificed and then subjected for postmortem examination. The tissue specimens were collected from kidneys, urinary bladder, testes, epididymis and accessory genital glands, and then subjected for histopathological examination and light microscopy.
