Clq in relation to apoptosis in lupus nephritis patients

Lamis Safwat Mobarak;

Abstract

Systemic lupus erythematosus is an autoimmune rheumatic disease characterized by diverse clinical features and the presence of autoantibodies in the serun1. The immunologic basis of SLE is multifactorial and still elusive.

The pathologic findings of SLE occur throughout the body and are manifested by inflammation, blood vessels abnormalities and immune complex deposition. The best characterized organ pathology is the kidney.

The aim of this study was to find out any possible relation between C1q and percentage of apoptosis in lupus nephritis through measuring serum C1q and percentage of apoptosis.

This work was performed on twenty five Egyptian SLE patients (23 females and 2 males) and ten controls. These patients subjected to through clinical examination and laboratory tests including complete blood picture, ESR, ANA, anti ds-DNA, blood urea, serum creatinine, creatinine clearances complete urine analysis, twenty four hours protein in urine, in addition to estimation of serum level of C1qCIC by ELISA and phosphatidyle serine as a marker of apoptosis by flow cytometry.
