Building Integrated Photovoltaics As An Approach for Sustainable Development

Abstract


Energy plays a main role in human kind life; the main energy resource is traditional energy
which has negative effect on the environment. Integrate renewable energy resource such as
solar, hydraulic, wind, biomass, and geothermal energy in to buildings, not only going to save
environment but also for saving future generation rights in traditional energy resources.
This study reviews photovoltaic types and factors affect its efficiency and the way to get rid
of those factors. Analyzing method to integrate photovoltaic into a building to be suitable for
surrounding conditions, as it can be integrated in to building's façade, roof, skylight and
shade to save this energy in batteries or to be grid connected. Photovoltaics are easy to be
integrated in new building or for renovation of existing building for optimizing building
performance.
This study aims to develop a guideline for the architects to integrate photovoltaics through
framework to analyze international buildings and national buildings in Egypt to find out if
integrating pv is suitable for surrounding conditions and it payback period is appropriate, or
