Quality of Life among Donors after Liver Transplantation
Hend Adel Ibrahim Mohamed;
Abstract
In Egypt, where cadaveric donation is limited by religious and cultural beliefs, the demand for living-donor liver transplant will continue. However, there are significant risks to the living donor, including the risk of death and substantial morbidity (Abdeldayem, 2010).Donor hepatectomy is a relatively safe procedure when performed by a dedicated and well trained team and after offering every effort on donor selection to minimize the marginal risks inherent in such major procedures. A prompt diagnosis and meticulous intervention is considered the first priority whenever a donor complication is expected (Aziz, et al., 2016).
The QOL of donors were not significantly different from the normal people, donors can have a normal QOL after complex surgical procedures in developing countries with multi-disciplinary evaluation pre-operatively and protocolized follow-up (El Meteini, et al., 2014).QOL studies not only allow us to determine QOL, but also help in identification of patients in need of physical and psychosocial support and it proved that the LDLT is safe. Moreover, the social support gained from the donors was very optimistic, and enough social support is good for
