Antibacterial Effect of Three Different Intracanal Disinfection Protocols. (A Comparative In- vitro Study)
Noura El Sayed Abu Shady;
Abstract
This study was conducted to compare the antibacterial effect of the
diode laser beam and the triple antibiotic paste on E.feacalis and their
combination together as three different disinfection protocols of root
canals.
During the context of this study 80 samples were prepared as
mentioned earlier in the methodology chapter. These specimens were
divided into four groups, a negative control group and 3 other groups, each
20 of these three groups were subjected to a different disinfection
technique, where each group samples were further subdivided into two
subgroups after receiving their treatment to be subjected to bacterial counts
on the first day of treatment and the 7th day after treatment.
According to the results of this study on the day of treatment ,the use of
diode laser beam in conjunction with the regular disinfection protocols
seemed to provide a better effect. However, the combination between the
diode laser and triple antibiotic paste enhanced their antibacterial effect
against E.faecalis on the first day of treatment , which indicates that a
greatly satisfying antibacterial effect can be achieved on the very first day
of treatment with this combination.
On the other hand, the results of day seven greatly suggested that time
has a positive effect on the disinfection potentials of triple antibiotic paste.
Thus the combination between these two disinfection protocols can
guarantee achieving the best disinfection effect using both techniques
together where the highest effect of the diode laser beam can be reache
