Abstract


This study tries to assess IL-12 levels in selected cases and frequency of abortion as a known complication of Toxoplasma infection and also if there is an association between IL12 levels and
anti -Toxoplasma antibodies in studied cases.

One hundred and fifty samples were collected randomly from department of Gynecology and Obstetric Benha University Hospital and a short history was taken from the patient's sheet with reference to the obstetric history: Gravidity, parity, previous abortion and details . of previous deliveries then screened by IRA for toxoplasmosis positive cases by IRA were classified into two groups:
Toxoplasma (30) positive cases with no history of abortion (GI).

-Toxoplasma (30) positive cases with a history of abortion (Gil).

- (10) control cases (Gill).

The studied groups are examined for anti-Toxoplasma IgG, IgM by ELISA technique and for IL-12 level.
The following results were obtained:

• Out of (150) cases were screened by IRA (67) cases were positive (44.6%).
• The seropositivity of anti-Toxoplasma IgG antibodies was found to be 83% (25 cases) in group I and 70% (21 cases) in group II with no significant among various groups.
