Study of risk factor in Patient with Kidney allografts Functioning over 10 years

Abstract

Despite the high rate of rejection and allograft failure in the

--- - -earlS' years of renal allotransplantation, some patients h9_y_e_ d_<?_r1E: remarkably well. We report 42 renal transplant recipients, who were transplanted during the period 1986 to 1990 with a functioning allograft for more than 10 years. These patients included 33 males and 9 females with a mean age at transplantation of 47.3 ± 9.6 years (Group A)). This group were compared to another group of 15 patients, who were transplanted during the same period and lost their graft before 5 years of transplantation due to chronic rejection (Group B). All patients received triple immunosuppressive therapy (Steroid, Azathiprine and Cyclosporine).
