MORPHOCHARACTERS OF THE SEED COAT OF SOME RESEDACEAE AND THEIR POSSIBLE CONTRIBUTION TO THE TAXONOMY OF THE FAMILY
USAMA ISMAIL ALI EL-MAGLY;
Abstract
The seed coat of 27 spp. from the family Resedaceae was morphologically and anatomically studied by the light microscope and SEM. The aim of the work was to reach at some diagnostic characters that can be used in species delimitation, and to discuss some taxonomic arguments concerned with nomenclature and systematy.
The data was presented in cumulative tables for easy study and comparison. Two indentificatory keys were suggested. One for all the spp. studied, Egyptians and non-Egyptians, and the other key was specific for the taxa growing in Egypt.
